HI I'M ELISE

Hi, I’m Elise, a certified teacher trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach and the founder of Raising Readers. I’m passionate about helping parents and teachers support children with dyslexia and reading difficulties so every child can feel confident and capable when they read.

HOW IT ALL STARTED...

After years of helping struggling readers, I discovered something powerful — with the right approach, every child can learn to read with confidence.

As a literacy specialist, I’ve seen firsthand how evidence-based, compassionate support can transform a child’s confidence. That’s why I created Raising Readers with Elise, to help parents move from confusion, guilt, and overwhelm to confidence, relief, and hope.
Through parent-friendly courses, practical resources, and personalized 1:1 reading intervention, I make the science of reading and the Orton-Gillingham approach simple and actionable. You’ll discover how your child’s brain learns to read, how to support them effectively at home, and how to advocate with clarity at school.
Every child deserves to feel capable and proud, and every parent deserves to feel hopeful and supported.

I’m a New York State certified teacher with a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy, trained through the Orton-Gillingham Academy. I’ve spent over a decade helping struggling readers find their confidence.

My husband and I turned our Ford Transit Connect into a tiny home-on-wheels and have taken three cross-country road trips together.

I love to cook and host friends and family - nothing makes me happier than a cozy table, good food, and great conversation.

I’m a proud boy mom to one amazing little human and one very loyal pup.

My brother and I teamed up to create a children’s book, “Zack the Zlurpian Goes to School.” I wrote the story, and he brought it to life with his illustrations!

Nature is my reset button! I love hiking, skiing, or just recharging in a hammock with a good book.
